Anna meets Kaws Be@rbrick 1000%

To be brutally honest, she wasn't that fussed and just crawled on.
It's hard to impress kids these days.

Hung!

Well, yeah, so that was easier said than done. But, it was done, a long time ago, but I'm only just now putting the photos up. There where a couple of failed attempts with velcro, that was supposedly able to hold huge paintings up, but wouldn't manage the worms. I think it was a combination of a couple of things - 1. The perspex has a slight warp to it, and 2. With the backing being foam it made it really hard to push the worms 'onto' the wall and 'onto' the velcro strips in order to get it to grip. It did stay up for about 10 minutes, but it really wasn't working, so I had to go with what was actually plan A anyay! One of those aluminium strips, in the top opening, which was, of course, already cut specifically for that purpose, plan A! So, jumping straight to plan B actually cost me some slight damage to the kitchen wall, what with velrco strips being NoMoreNailsed to the wall, only to be ripped off within 48 hours - wife not that impressed, but it didn't matter because it would be covered by the worms anyway, and also, some slight damage to the foam backing, also due to having to rip the velcro strips off as well :L

The foam backing got of easier than the wall though, and I was able to paint over the (only very slightly) ripped surface with black again. Also, again, this didn't matter, because no one's looking at the back anyway! That's right up against the wall! I don't even know why I care enough about it to write about it, let alone expect you to care enough to read about it! Let's just get to the pictures, shall we? It's up, that's all we need to know!....
....I know it's not too glamorous living right next to the washing line, but at least the washing includes a pink Bape hoody :D

Glued! Cut!

Water jetted, to be precise. The foam is already glued on to the back by now. I'll put a vid up tomorrow...till then, here it is cut out...
...now all that remains is to finish painting the back and sides black, and adding the mounting brackets.

Painted!

Well, paint started. Painted the holes on the foam first, prior to gluing onto the perspex...

Printed!

It's been printed for a while now, but only just getting around to posting the pics - still need to scan the old sketches too.
Waiting for a quote from the laser cutters to cut it out - looks like it's going to be cut by water jet, so I'll have to be careful about what glue I use and what exactly I do on the back.

So, next post will either be all cut out, or of the old sketches. Not quite hanging on a wall yet, but we're getting there!

Sod it, while I'm up and in the mood, may as well post one of the final images up - this is the first design that I'll be getting printed - looking at options and getting quotes right now - next time I post this, hopefully it'll be a real photo of it hanging on a wall?!

Ok, here's a few images from the early stages. Just to get the ball rolling. I'll try to get around to scanning the initial pen sketches in, since they were where it all started....
Yeah, scanned 'em, about 6 months ago, so now I'm going back in time to post them into this post, so it looks like I have my five h one t together or something....

First post

So, I've been calling myself an 'artist' for a good 20 years now, but it's only recently occurred to me that I've not once in that time ever produced anything that I would even consider calling a 'work of art'.
I've decided that I'd best sort that out, and I've nearly finished my first piece, just a matter of final production now. I'll be posting a load of the prep work for that, along with the final piece(s) once it\they is\are finished!
Then, hopefully a load more!
Thanks for listening.
